DERREENATAGGART STONE CIRCLE

On a lonely hill 2km northwest of Castletownbere, the Derreenataggart Stone Circle can be found in a field close to the roadside.

There were originally 15 stones in the circle of which only 9 of them are still standing. Three of the stones have fallen at the west and there are three missing stones. One of the portal stones is 2.4 meters tall, the other is broken only a stump remains. There are gorgeous views of Bear Island to the south. (source)

Head east towards Back Rd – 6 m
Turn right onto Back Rd – 170 m
Turn right onto R572 – 150 m
Slight right onto W End Park – 110 m
Continue straight onto The Rock – 1.0 km
Turn left. Your destination will be on the right – 500 m

The site is accessible by walking after a half-hour walk.
